State of “All-Out-Preparedness” Reimposed in Ulaanbaatar Effective 10 April – 25 April
To intensify vaccination throughout the country, the Mongolian government has announced a state of “all-out-preparedness” and associated lockdown measures to be imposed in Ulaanbaatar beginning on April 11 and continuing until April 25. This decision also follows rising COVID-19 case counts throughout the city and the provinces.
During this time, only essential businesses will be allowed to operate. City residents will be allowed to access essential services like grocery stores, medical care, and pharmacies near to their homes. You may also see COVID-19 testing or a vaccination and walking outside in groups of no more than five people is allowed. Access to public transportation will be restricted to essential services and the government has announced that it may impose further restrictions on vehicle traffic.
Due to the strict lockdown imposed by the Government of Mongolia, consular operations, including visa interviews and non-emergency American citizen services, will be suspended effective 12 April until 23 April. American citizens with consular services scheduled during this time period will be contacted to reschedule their appointments. As local conditions permit, the Consular Section plans to re-start American citizen and immigrant visa services the week of 26 April. Nonimmigrant visa applicants should check https://ustraveldocs.com/mn/index.html for appointment availability.
For American citizens in need of emergency assistance please contact: +976-7007-6001 or write to UlaanbaatarACS@state.gov during business hours or +976-7007-6066 after hours and on weekends. To receive regular updates from the Consular Section American citizens should enroll their travel in Mongolia by visiting step.state.gov.
