Celebrating 75 Years of Fulbright

This year is marking the 75th anniversary of the Fulbright Program and throughout 2021, U.S. Embassies, Fulbright commissions, universities, and other Fulbright partners and supporters celebrated the anniversary through variety of activities all around the world. The Fulbright Program’s success is based on a sustained commitment to international bilateral partnerships and shared priorities. Led by the United States government in partnership with 160 countries worldwide, the Fulbright Program offers unparalleled international educational and cultural exchange experiences.

Our global network of Fulbrighters fosters mutual understanding between the United States and partner nations, advances knowledge across communities, and improves lives around the globe. The Fulbright Program started in Mongolia with the very first Mongolian Fulbright Visiting Scholar traveling to the United States in 1994 and the first American Fulbright Student Researcher arriving in Mongolia in 2005, and since then the U.S. Department of State has supported and funded almost 400 two-way Fulbright exchanges between the two countries. In 2009, the Government of Mongolia initiated discussions to establish a Bi-national Fulbright Foreign Student Program and sides signed the initial funding agreement on December 15, 2010.

Since its inception, the bi-national program enabled over 100 Mongolian young professionals to pursue graduate studies in the United States in various on-demand fields including education, environmental science, public health, mining engineering, and more. Happy Anniversary to our partners and Fulbrighters, please join the celebration by sharing your Fulbright story on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter using hastag #Fulbright75! The United States and Mongolia share a strong friendship and commitment to promote and protect human rights, democracy, good governance, sovereignty, peace, and prosperity through educational and professional exchange programs and alumni engagement.
