English Language Programs

The English Language Fellow Program: Through the English Language Fellow Program (ELF), highly qualified U.S. educators in the field of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) participate in 10-month-long fellowships at academic institutions throughout the world.
Application Period for interested institutes: August – October

The English Language Specialist Program: The English Language Specialist Program recruits U.S. academics and professionals in the fields of Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) to conduct programs overseas ranging from two weeks to four months.
Application Period for interested institutes: On a rolling basis

The English Access Micro-scholarship Program: The English Access Micro-scholarship Program (ACCESS) provides a foundation of English language skills to non-elite, 13 -20 year old students through after-school classes and intensive summer learning activities.

The Online Professional English Network (OPEN) Program: The OPEN Program offers 8-week, online, university-level courses in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) developed by U.S. educational institutions. All courses use the latest in instructional technology to provide participants with an interactive distance-learning experience and are designed to familiarize participating teachers with current methods and issues in the field of English as a Foreign Language.  The OPEN Program also connects participants with U.S. English language teaching experts and creates a professional network of international colleagues. Online resources for English teachers: The American English E-Teacher platform offers many online resources to assist English language teachers ranging from lesson materials, interactive webinars, and massive open online courses (MOOCs).  MOOCs are free online courses to develop English teaching skills.  AE E-Teacher MOOCs can be facilitated by an instructor, or self-paced.

Online resources for English learners: Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) are free courses to help English language learners develop their skills on their own time.  These MOOCs offer English for specific purposes to student at the pre-intermediate and intermediate level.
