CAMP H.M. SMITH, Hawaii — Mongolian Armed Forces and U.S. Pacific Command have announced their participation in Exercise Khaan Quest 2015, scheduled to be held at Five Hills Training Area and the city of Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, June 20 – July 1.

Khaan Quest is a regularly scheduled, multinational exercise co-sponsored by U.S. Pacific Command and hosted annually by the Mongolian Armed Forces. KQ 15 is the latest in a continuing series of exercises designed to promote regional peace and security. This year’s exercise marks the 13th anniversary of this training event.

Khaan Quest 2015 consists of a command post exercise (CPX) and field training exercise (FTX) at Five Hills Training Area, both of which will focus on peacekeeping and stability operations. During these portions of the exercise, Mongolian, U.S. and multinational forces will work to enhance regional interoperability and mission effectiveness, as well as develop common tactics, techniques and procedures.

Mongolian and U.S. armed forces will also participate in Engineering Civic Action Program (ENCAP) projects, as well as Cooperative Health Engagement (CHE) events in Ulaanbaatar, enhancing joint Mongolian-U.S. medical capabilities and providing outreach to underserved communities.

Approximately 300 U.S. personnel and 600 MAF personnel are expected to participate in KQ15, along with approximately 300 personnel from various other nations. This year, the MAF has invited military personnel from approximately 25 other nations to include Australia, Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, Canada, China, Czech, France, Germany, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Nepal, Philippines, ROK, Singapore, Tajikistan, Thailand, Turkey, UK, and Vietnam to participate in KQ 15.

The purpose of Khaan Quest is to gain United Nations training and certification for the participants through the conduct of realistic peace support operations, as well as increase and improve the interoperability and military relationships among the participating nations.
