On January 7, Apichai Shipper, the Asia Regional Studies Chair at the Foreign Service Institute, landed in Ulaanbaatar for a weeklong tour of Mongolia. As part of his trip, Dr. Shipper met with deans and senior faculty and gave lectures to students at the Graduate School of the University of the Humanities’ School of Foreign Service, as well as the National University of Mongolia’s School of Foreign Service. He also met with State Secretary B. Boldbaatar and Ambassador Kh. Bekhbat at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and delivered a lecture at Mongolia’s Diplomatic Academy.
Dr. Shipper’s visit resulted in the establishment of relationships for information exchange between the U.S. Embassy, Mongolian government officials, and educators in developing their own foreign affairs and training initiatives.
