This year marks the 29th anniversary of U.S.-Mongolian diplomatic relations. It was on January 27, 1987, the United States and Mongolia officially established the diplomatic relations of the two countries. The establishment of our diplomatic relations was marked by the signing of documents by U.S. Secretary of State George Shultz and Mongolian Ambassador to the United Nations G. Nyamdoo in the Treaty Room at the United States Department of State.
In 2012, the U.S. Embassy in Ulaanbaatar marked the 25th anniversary of the event both on the day it occurred and with a series of events throughout 2012.
If you have memorabilia, photos, letters and other documents that help to tell the fascinating story of the U.S.-Mongolian diplomatic relations, we would like to invite you to send them to pao@usembassy.mn.
