Press Release: Ambassador Haley on the Release of the Annual Human Rights Report

Today, the State Department released its 2017 Country Reports on Human Rights Practices. This annual report evaluates the human rights records of 199 countries and territories. It provides an opportunity to highlight the nature, scope, and severity of human rights violations and abuses across the globe, and analyze whether governments are making efforts to protect human rights or failing to meet their obligations.

“Protecting and promoting human rights is at the heart of American values. We will continue to call out the world’s worst human rights violators, such as Iran, China, Syria, Venezuela, and North Korea. The release of the report warns abusive governments that the United States is watching them, and it reminds the victims of human rights violations that we will continue to stand with them,” said Ambassador Haley.
