Sixth Distinguished Speaker Series with Dr. Oyun Sanjaasuren, Member of Parliament of Mongolia and President of United Nations Environmental Assembly

Dr. Oyun SanjaasurenOn Friday, April 24, 2015, the 6th Distinguished Speaker Series was successfully hosted by the Mongolian Association of State Alumni (MASA) featuring a lecture by Dr. Oyun Sanjaasuren, Member of Parliament of Mongolia and President of United Nations Environmental Assembly, entitled Environment and Sustainability.

Dr. Oyun Sanjaasuren is one of the longest serving parliament members, and she was appointed as a Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Environment and Green Development, and a Deputy Speaker of the Parliament. Since 2012, she is serving as the President of United Nations Environmental Assembly. Dr. Oyun Sanjaasuren has been elected to many international and national non-profits such as Young Global Leader Alumni, World Economic Forum, World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council on Water Security, and is a Founder and Head of the Zorig Foundation, a prominent Mongolian NGO dedicated to the advancement of democracy and good governance in Mongolia.

Moderated by the Head of the MASA, Ms. Undraa, the presentation by Dr. Oyun was well attended by audience, strongest alumni networks including MASA, MYLP and Zorig Foundation as well, which produced a very interesting question and answer session about Environment and Sustainability. The Mitchell Foundation was instrumental in helping to arrange the lecture.

The Lecture Series are organized under the “The Nurturing Alumni through Substantive Engagement” project funded through the mission-driven alumni project from the State Alumni Office with themes in democracy and human rights, business and corporate social responsibility, and health and the environment.
