The Consular Section would like to bring to the attention of the American Citizens residing in Mongolia that the new Law of Mongolia on the Legal Status of Foreign Nationals of July 8, 2010, introduces important changes and strict penalties for not observing the provisions set up in the Law.

According to the Law, “A foreign national who does not carry his passport or equivalent document or residence permit shall be fined an amount equal to 3 times lower than the minimum wage”, “A foreign national who violates the regulations on registration shall be fined an amount equal to 1 to 2 times of minimum wage”,

“A foreign national who works in Mongolia without a proper permission from the competent authorities, or exceeds the term up to 3 months shall be fined an amount equal to 1 to 3 times of minimum salary”.
