Passports

Mongolia requires that American Citizens entering the country must have at least six months validity remaining in their passports. Please plan your travel accordingly by ensuring that your passport has at least six months validity and at least two completely blank “Visa” pages remaining before travelling to Mongolia. Mongolian visa or Entry stamps will not be placed on the “Endorsements” pages.

When traveling, please remember to carry a photocopy of your passport separately from your passport. In the event of loss or theft, the copy will helps facilitates issuance of a replacement passport.

The consular section issues full and limited validity U.S passports. Since December 31, 2015, extra visa pages can no longer be added to U.S. passports. 

All passport applications require appointments, with the exception of emergency passport applications. See special requirements for children below.

All non-emergency routine services are by appointment only on Tuesdays from 01:00 pm. to 3:00 pm., except U.S. and Mongolian holidays. To make an appointment please visit the U.S. Citizens Services Appointment System. For emergency services, please contact us directly by phone or email.

Allow two weeks for processing new U.S passports. Passports must be collected at the consular section by the applicant. An appointment is not necessary to pick up your passport.
