U.S. Embassy staff members traveled from Ulaanbaatar to launch the new school year in Khovd by delivering a series of career-based discussions to students.
At Progress Secondary School, Public Diplomacy Officer Richard Roberts, English Language Coordinator Altantsetseg Tumenkhishig, and Alumni Coordinator Ideruugan Galbaatar encouraged high school students to focus on careers and to consider ways to translate personal interests and hobbies into professions. At Khovd University and Khovd Polytechnic College, the team gave the students practical career advice about the importance of approaching job interviews, admissions committees, and scholarship opportunities with the right attitude and skill set.
At the American Corner at the Khovd Public Library, they met with English Access Micro-scholarship Program alumni to discuss the ways in which English language skills will enhance their career prospects.

At the end of the visit, the Educational and Cultural Department of Khovd Aimag presented the team with a medal in honor of the U.S. Embassy’s efforts to promote educational achievement in the region.
