United States Donates English Language Lab to Mongolia’s National Defense University
United States Ambassador to Mongolia Jennifer Zimdahl Galt today marked the installation of a state-of-the-art, U.S.-funded English language lab at Mongolia’s National Defense University (NDU), joining Mongolian Vice Minister of Defense T. Dulamdorj and NDU President Major General Ya. Choijamts in a ribbon cutting ceremony.
NDU is Mongolia’s premier professional military education institution. Its new English language lab is the eighth lab that the United States has donated to Mongolia since 1992. Four others are with the Mongolian Armed Forces, and the remaining three were retired as training technologies changed.
These labs are important elements in building the strong U.S.-Mongolia defense partnership, which has grown ever more robust since the establishment of U.S.-Mongolia diplomatic relations 30 years ago. The English language skills acquired in these labs ensure Mongolian military professionals are equipped for advanced training in U.S. military schools and for the intense missions they conduct in Afghanistan and in United Nations peacekeeping missions worldwide.
